Gutter Brush FAQ's

Benifits/FAQ's

  • WHAT IS THE GUTTERBRUSH?
The GutterBrush is a cylinder shaped, twisted in wire, polypropylene brush. Imagine a huge flexible bottlebrush. Available in three foot and eighteen inch sections with a diameter measuring 4.25 inches (Standard) or 5.25 inches (Oversized).
  • HOW DOES GUTTERBRUSH WORK?
Once installed in a gutter, stiff GutterBrush bristles fill the entire gutter and prevent leaves or other debris from accumulating on the gutter floor and impeding water flow. Water continues to flow freely into the gutter, through the brush and down the drain path.
  • WILL LEAVES AND OTHER DEBRIS GET CAUGHT IN THE BRISTLES?
Yes, but don’t panic! Leaves may be temporarily caught in the top of the brush bristles, but with continual cycles of rain, sun and wind, combined with the high level of airflow through the GutterBrush, most debris either dries out and blows away or self-composts, breaking down into small particles that wash down the gutter. Water will continue to flow through the brush and gutters will not clog.
  • HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE I NEED?
Most homes with standard size gutters will require the 4.25-inch diameter GutterBrush. To be sure you can measure your gutters width at the top. – 5 Inches Wide = Standard 4.25-inch GutterBrush – 6 Inches Wide = Oversized 5.25-inch GutterBrush
  • CAN I INSTALL GUTTERBRUSH MYSELF?
If you are burdened with the regular task of cleaning out your gutters, you could easily install GutterBrush yourself. There are no tools required and GutterBrush can be installed while your gutters are being cleaned.
  • WILL I STILL NEED TO CLEAN MY GUTTERS OR THE GUTTERBRUSH AFTER INSTALLING AND IF SO, HOW DO I CLEAN THEM?
Your gutters will remain clear and flowing after the installation of GutterBrush. If you ever need to address gutter debris or a particular trouble spot, cleaning your gutters becomes as easy as sliding out sections of GutterBrush and giving them a quick shake or a brush with your hand.
  • HOW MUCH DOES GUTTERBRUSH COST? GutterBrush can generally be purchased by the Do-It-Yourselfer for less than $5.00 per foot. Installed prices will depend upon the height and complexity of the roof area as well as how much gutter cleaning or maintenance is required before installation. The end result represents a savings to the homeowner of 50% - 75% vs. many nationally advertised gutter protection systems.
  • DOES GUTTERBRUSH WORK IN COMBINATION WITH ANY ROOF SURFACE & GUTTER TYPE?
Yes! GutterBrush is easily installed and will not interfere with roof surfaces such as Asphalt, Cedar Shake, Slate, Tile, Rubber or Metal. It also works in combination with any gutter type including: Copper, PVC, Aluminum, Galvanized or Stainless Steel.
  • IS GUTTERBRUSH VISIBLE FROM THE GROUND?
On lower level gutters you may just see the tips of the bristles. On gutters above 10 – 12 feet, GutterBrush will not be visible.
  • WHAT ABOUT PINE NEEDLES AND MAPLE SEEDS?
Although pine needles, maple seeds or other small debris may become caught in the Gutterbrush, they remain suspended in the bristles where continual cycles of sun, rain, and wind promote rapid decomposition. Pine needles may require an additional 4-6 weeks to decompose.
  • WILL GUTTERBRUSH HAVE ANY IMPACT ON THE PROBLEM OF ICE DAMS?
Ice Dams are typically the result of improper insulation resulting in a warm roof. Snow melts on a roof and water trickles down near the gutter where it freezes again and builds up as a block of ice. GutterBrush will have no effect on this process, but when the sun comes out, the black GutterBrush bristles absorb heat and have been reported to promote rapid melting of ice build up.
